+++ Introduction +++
Nowadays nothing is more important than thinking of sustainability. Especially the business world is facing huge challenges to work in a „green“ way and to stop the global warming of our planet. I’m really interested in books, which cover the topics business and sustainability at the same time. The Roland Berger Strategy Consultants published a book about these challenge: "Green Growth, Green Profit - How Green Transformation Boosts Business", 250 pages strong, publisher is palgrave macmillan, is about the green transformation and how industries and countries can work sustainable and successful at the same time. The importance of this book shows the first sentence of chapter one: „Green business will shape how the world advances over the coming decades“.
+++ Structure +++
The book is made of articles, which are classified into three parts. The articles are written by several experts, who have worked for many years with the questions of their articles. he first one is a theoretical part, which deals with the most important challenges the world economy has to face right now, for example electric mobility and renewable energies. The second part shows the advancements of certain countries concerning green business, for example that Germany is the greenest country of all and that Japan is the world leader in technical innovations. The last part is a forward-looking one, which focuses on the financial aspect and opportunities of green business.
+++ Conclusion +++
The articles are dealing with complexe topics, but nearly every author is successful in explaining them in comprehensible words. The reader feels in every minute, that the authors have much experience in their fields of work. The book sees itself as a navigation guide for managers and the authors give good advices, for example: “We argue that investing in renewable energies not only helps the environment, but also helps countries to kick-start their economies, thus providing new impetus and new jobs“. As you can see, the authors aren’t focussing on only one perspective of a problem, they discuss all aspects of an issue. The importance of doing green business comes clear, when we look at the 2011 prediction for the oil price, which will rise over 100$ a barrel again pursuant to experts.
+++ Personal Conclusion +++
I can recommend this book to everyone, who cares about the challenges and problems of modern business, especially green business and the future of the world economy. The experience and expertise of the authors is a big plus factor for the book. This book is for me as an semi-expert in business topics a very good way to get an overview about green business, especially for laymen, too.
